My Scar/Tattoo

I have chest hair that covers up my scar but I also got a tattoo to commemorate the ticking that my mechanical valve makes.

The heart is based off the Tin Man heart.
It has 13 links because I had surgery 12/13/96,
and the time on the clock points to the 1 and the 3 for the same reason.

cool tat....I have one and was considering another but everyone has told me that I can't have another due to being on Coumadin. Too much bleeding which causes the ink to blurr. Did you tell them you were on Coumadin before hand ? I've also been told that alot of tattoo artists won't with you if you are on it.

Yah - that's what we've always been told. Yours looks great! I love it!

They knew when they did that I was on blood thinners; however, I worked with my Coumadin nurse to make sure everything went well. I took antibiotics and monitored my levels. Mine didn't end up blurring.

I have another one on my back that did blur but that's because I didn't work with my nurse and it ended up looking weird. I'm in the process of getting it redone.

It all depends on working with whoever monitors your levels. Mine didn't even bleed.

I'm preparing for mitral valve replacement soon. Had it repaired didn't hold. also had coarc surgery 35 years ago. I have 7 Tats and already have an appointment for my next. I didn't realize you could still get it done while on cumadin. Thanks that was helpful. By the way I love yours The best ink is the one that has a never ending meaning.
