This scar is the creation of top UK surgeon Christopher Young by Ministernotomy. This is 13 days post-op, and it's exactly 2.5" long. Through this little hole went CBP plumbing, a 4" dacron graft, and a 23mm ON-X valve.

That is a nice scar, Carl! I had a similar surgery to yours with an aortic replacement and aortic graft, but my scar is no where near that short. Looks good, and thanks for sharing!

Dude

That can't be a scar, looks more like you nicked your chest shaving! HeHe. Me, I've got the full zipper from OHS. I got the same goods as you, IE a 23mm On-X AV and graft of the ascending aorta. Your Doc did you justice.

I should be jealous. . . but I'm just glad to be "back."

Mine is a smooth 6-inch scar on a slight angle. At 11 weeks, it nearly matches the surrounding skin. The drain "dimples" are more apparent, as is my pacemaker. Guess there are drawbacks to being thin.

Congratulations!

My Dad had an AVR and CAB done in 2009 in Oxford, UK, - surgeon was Ravi Pillai. He had a longer incision, but it was glued closed, not stitched. A few years down the line it is pretty much as invisable as yours!
