Hi all,

I had my first hiccup Monday, Most of the day I was having really bad palpitations and since I can hear my mech. valve, it would go tick, tick, tick, pause, tick, tick, pause, etc..... very uncomfortable palpitations so I ended up in the ER Monday night. They put me on metoperal (cardio said it would hopefully be a 2-3 month thing). They called it premature ventricular contractions.
Saw my surgeon Wed for my 3 week, he asked what happend, and I was having sort of a down day, tried to be funny and said "I missed you guys", but I don't know if he found it funny, then I explained what happened and he said it was normal to experience that. ..He saw my pedometer log and saw Monday was only 33xx steps. I hope by my trying to lighten up my day a little he did not think I am a "kook"!
He said I could go ahead and add some swimming to the mix, so I just got back from a swim and walk. Only 2 laps and I was muscle sore, I guess from not having used my upper body for a few weeks, but it felt good to be able to do that!!

I had P-V-C all my life Before AVR I got so use to them it was a normal part of my life . Now 5 weeks since my new AVR I do not have them any more, I cant say I miss them. Do not wory they wont hurt you -just bug you

Jen,

Minor bump and I think after the heart has been tinkered with, these things happened. PVC's wont hurt you but yes, they are super annoying. It's actually what brought me into the cardio in the first place (then they did an echo and found my BAV)

I have been on Metoprolol ever since and it cut them by almost 100 percent. I was getting them all day long daily. I can't imagine LIVING with them. UGH!!! I don't know if they are related to my BAV issue but something tells me I won't need my meds after heart surgery. Hang in there and take care of yourself. You are so lucky to be on the other side!!!!

I had the same after my surgery, which was then followed with some atrial flutter. At that point I was put on amioderone in addition to the metoprolol I was already on. After a month of amioderone I stopped that dose, and have reduced my metoprolol. I haven't had any issues since about 3 weeks out from surgery, so all good. Hope your situation is similar!
