I got my results from the CT I had yesterday back this morning. It states I have aneurysmal dilation of the ascending aorta of 4.5x4.5 cm, marked calcification of the aortic valve and a possible bicuspid aortic valve. The wording states, third aortic valve is not definitively seen. The information on the web lists 5.5cm as the typical size that requires surgery. If I have valve replacement they would fix the aneurysm at the same time even though it isn't to the level they normally recommend surgery, right? Does the aortic aneurysm alter the type of surgery and valve I would get?

Something weird the report shows is subsegmental atelectasis in the dependent lower lobes. I googled it and atelectasis is full or partial collapse of the lung or portion of the lung. Now I have questions for the doctor about this too.

I appreciate all the words of wisdom I have gotten here. Thank you!
