Hi Gang,
Just wanted to let you know that my computer has died. I am trying to get it fixed, but I am not having any luck, so I may be down for a bit, but will try to keep up when I visit my brothers house, As I am still waiting for SS, I cannot afford to buy another computer at least until I get SS, so I will do my best to keep up, but it will be harder as I cannot always get to my brothers house...I just wanted to let everyone know...Talk to you all as soon as I am able....Harrybaby666 :( :( :( :( :(

Sorry to hear that. What do you mean by dead? What did it do? I'm trying to determine if it's something you can fix yourself. I can tell you with absolute certainty that if you get SS, you won't be able to afford one darn thing!

Hi Ross

Hi Ross

Hi There Ross,
What happened is that I had a duel boot system, which means I had both Windows (which I hate) and Linux (which I love) on the same hard drive. What happened is when I took Linux out for more storage space, the manual for Linux did not tell me that you had to update Lilo (the program that lets you pick which operating system to use) and that you had to re run Lilo to do this...needless to say, my computer crashed and now I cannot boot up, the computer does not see my cd roms or my hard drives, so I cannot boot up even with a boot floppy or another cd rom...One of the major problems I have had is that Windows XP does not make a boot floppy like windows 98 and therefore, the computer would not even boot up off an XP boot floppy...Needless to say, I am not in good shape at all. Harrybaby :( :( :( :(

Do you have a linux boot disk? If so, you should be able to run fdisk and reset the active partition to be the one holding your XP installation.

Hi Johnny

Hi Johnny

The computer will not even see the cd rom drives or the hard drives, I have tried the boot disks, and nothing...ERRRRRRRRR!!! LOL LOL. (I am trying not to stress....I am trying not to stress....LOL LOL) Any help will be most appreciated...Harrybaby...     :D :D

When you say "disks" do you mean floppy disks, too? Will it see a linux boot FLOPPY? Try setting the boot order in your BIOS to look at the floppy disk first, then CD-ROM, then hard drive.

Problem Solved!!!

Problem Solved!!!

Hi Ross, Hi Johnny,
Just wanted to let you guys know that I found a solution to my problem, and I will be back up and running in no time...what I ended up doing is taking out the hard drives and reformatting them on another machine and then putting them back into my machine..Whew! Thanks for the help...Harrybaby666 :D :D :D :D :D :D and I do stress :D :D :D :D :D :D !!! LOL

It makes for a much happier person when they can fix it themselves. Letting a tech somewhere do it, is equivalent to being taken to the cleaners. I still have my old machine sitting here looking at me and saying fix me, but being on SS, I don't have the bucks to spare to monkey with it now. Perhaps someday in the future. I've got everything and everyone after me for money and it doesn't feel good at all.
