I all My cath was pretty much a non event except for the wait.
Got there at 6 went to a holding station and stayed until 9. Then they took me back. I got a nice shave while I was there. I asked for some happy juice and she said this will make you sleepy well it didnt do nothing. NOTHING I stayed awake through the whole thing and watched the monitor. The did a right and left cath on me also but did it from the right side only. I only had one spell of pain when they were going in I said OUCH. HE asked you felt that I said YEAH and that was about it. When that Die went in I could have swore I pee pee on my self. After that I spent the next 6 hours flat on my back looking at a wall 4 feet in front of my feet. Those last 30 mins was heck. My arteries were clear but he said deffinate Surgery and soon. Well its finally time to leave. No driving or lifting for 24 hours. Guess what my Wife got a miagrain and couldnt drive she get incompasitated with those. So I took the wheel and drove the hour drive home in RUSH hour downtown B'ham. Thanks for all who got me there you all know who you are I dont have to call names.

Lee,

So glad to hear your cath was uneventful as well. I felt that pain and thought it was the catheter going in, but he said he was giving me the lidocaine shots. I'm surprised they didn't use a little topical lidocaine first, but I think part of the problem was that I kind of tensed up because it's kind of a ticklish spot...lol. And yes the warm rush was interesting...I could feel it go right to the tip of my...nevermind. :D I had about a 2hr wait in a private room, but I had a TV to watch. I only had a 2hr wait afterwards because they put a plug in mine, and I slept the whole time. I'm sorry to hear that surgery is coming soon, but we'll get through it just like we got through the cath. My focus was on this...I know I'm getting some "happy juice" soon, and after that I know that I won't care what they do to me. So my focus on the surgery will be the same...hang tough and the happy juice is coming. After that I won't have a care in the world. I figure once you wake up from the surgery you KNOW you don't have any control over the situation and just go with the flow.

Driving through rush hour traffic in Birmingham right after a cath?

That's where if you aren't doing 80 to 85 MPH, they will RUN YOU OVER, and even at those speeds, a few will still pass you by.

WOW! You probably don't want your Doc to know THAT !

I'm glad you made it home OK. Take it EASY for a few days and don't sit upright for long periods at a time without straightening up or better yet, laying down. You do NOT want to develop a Hematoma (bleeding under the skin). Been there, done that, NOT Fun.

Glad it turned out OK

Glad it turned out OK

Glad everything tuned out well, Lee, and it's one more thing you don't have to worry about.

Lee,

see, the cath's not so bad. I liked the dye rush the best.

One down and one to go!
