Finally got a new general practice medical dr after mine abruptly left his position. I'd been, among many, his patient of 20 yrs. It's really hard to make a decision on who one should see after having such a long union between patient and dr. My cardio recommended this doctor and my first appt was today. I wore my Miami Edison High (over the hill gang) tee shirt. Turns out she was born down there in Miami, and soon as she saw the shirt, we had a really good base to begin a relationship. By the way, she's a girl, if you missed that! Young mother, very personable, chatty, been in town for a year. I really liked her and she spent plenty of time with me, some of it medical conversation. And she is good. I am pleased.

She also gave me samples of a couple of my meds.

Congratulations, Ann!
Doctors and hair dressers are important in our lives, and to find a new one that you like and feel confident with, is a wondrous accomplishment!:)

Good for you..Ann..I have had my PCP for 6 years..he was on call the day I went to ER..Xmas Day.....Feeling funny..he was so good to help me for 3 months..trying to figure out what was wrong with me?..He sent me to many doctors..everyone from ENT to finally Cardio. where they found my aneurysm...:) .his practice was in a small office....Now..6 years later. huge building..many new patients, ect..however. he still remember me as his first valve patient....and I feel like I am part of his family..( Kate / and his son in same daycare, ect..now..he is big time..but I am not embarrased to walk right in and go back..for b/p check, ect..without an appointment..in fact..did it last week. and walked outside and damn door cut my leg. and went back in..right thru swinging door and the nurses jumped all over me trying to stop the bleeding..bandage, ect..(no big deal).......I see him once a year for my woman thing..he says I remind him of his Grandmother.. :( :p but am comfortable with him doing it..:) ..and no charges during the year..I am lucky that my Cardio is the same way..no charges for managing my coumadin, scripting it, he only charges for annual echo/visit. Same thing with him..Started out small. huge practice now.. Bonnie

Glad you like her, Ann. I too have a woman pcp and find my visits to her as comfortable as a visit to any doctor can be and that's saying a lot for me, because I hate going to the doctor!
