Muscle Pain And Warfarin

Has anyone heard of muscle pain as a side effect of warfarin ????
I had asked questions on rotator cuff pain a few weeks ago which was made better by the anti-infamatort Mobic. But now both shoulders and my hips
are pretty sore. I took Aleve before OHS and warfarin which helped a great deal. I had asked my PP about cordizone shots and said it would have to be through an ortho doc due to the warfarin ...might cause bleeding.

Maybe this is the old 50 year old slide but it sucks. I feel so good heart wise and now I seem to need a jump start to get moving when I get up from sitting any length of time.

Thanks for letting me bitch about this when others have so much more to deal with...

I am on coumadin also and have had problems with muscle pain and now a shoulder problem. I never put the 2 together but just maybe this could be part of the problem.

Oddly enough, I have been having issues with muscle pain and weakness plus my left shoulder is very painful when lifting the left arm out and up. I also begin having neck muscle involvement which limit range of movement of the head from side-to-side at the same time. These issues popped up after being on Warfarin for three months. I'm 59 and have rheumatoid arthritis and when all of this started my Rheumatologist and I though that biologic drug that I take had failed. Now, I would be interested in knowing whether or not the Warfarin might be causing it.

Did a little Google on Coumadin and muscle pain because I have not ever heard of it being a side-effect. What I read was warnings about sudden, intense muscle pain. This is related to those who are on the drug for developing clots and what to look for as the sign of a possible clot, not an actual side-effect.

Are you on any cholesterol lowering drug? Depending on the type, this can cause muscle pain.

I am not on any cholesterol lowering drugs. Was on Voltarin but stopped it 6 months ago. I am 18 weeks post op. I do not think this at all related to the trauma of surery. Played golf up until 4 weeks ago when all this started.

The anti-inflammatory Drug Mobic is prescribed primarily for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. You may be developing one or the other. You might want to see a Rheumatologist about this. I have the same symptoms as you and I have rheumatoid arthritis. I came down with it when I was 50 years old. Just a thought.

Well I'm not freaking old, but I have the same problems and it's related to weather fronts coming and going.

The only thing that I can tell you is that this problem has lasted across a number of front changes and temperature fluctuations without change. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we get all kinds of weather changes in short periods of time.

Mac, have you seen an orthopedist about your shoulder pain? Rereading your description, it sounds like you are having rotator cuff issues or something else going on in the shoulder area.

No, I have not visited an Orthopedist regarding the shoulder as I haven't really been active enough in the past two years to have done any damage to the shoulder. About the only thing that I have done during that period is ride motorcycles at a very leisurely pace. I will check with my PCP and see what he thinks. Thank you.

When they do OHS on you, they pretty much crank the living daylights out of your body in order to have good access to the heart. Wonder if something became disturbed or injured then, but has taken a while to make itself more irritated through normal daily stuff.

Just thoughts until we get Al's answer. My Mom got a torn rotator cuff that just slowly appeared over time. She kept continuing to have more and more problems reaching for things.

And just a little interesting thing - most back injuries occur bending over to pick up soap in the shower.
