Hey all -

Just wanted to get some feedback on experiences with Cruises and Motion Sickness. Most of what I hear is that it is not a factor on large ships. I will be going on a Disney Cruise and my Doctor is not recommending the patch as he says some people have adverse reactions to it. I have a low tolerance to most drugs so I am not going to try it.
I do get car sick if I try to read in the car but just driving is okay.
So any recommendations would be appreciated. This is a concern for me but I am not going to let it put a damper on my trip.
My Doctor did give me Phenegren (sp?) in case I do get nauseous.
So I'm covered for that.

Hi Tammy'

I took a cruise in June and was also concerned about motion sickness. I, too get car sick if reading in the car. I was on a very large ship and never once felt dizzy or sick. One day at sea, it was very windy and we experienced a lot of movement of the ship. I was fine! It was kinda neat sleeping that night....it felt like I was being rocked to sleep! You will love your cruise. I had a fantastic time and can hardly wait to go again!

Hi Tammy,

I have been on many cruises and even on large ships rough water can take it's toll. I start on dramamine the day before and stay on it for the cruise. My husband does the same thing. All I can say is that on one particularily rough evening on a small ship in the Greek Islands is that we were the only ones left in the dining room. There is also brand name "Bonine" that you can get over the counter and doesn't make people so sleepy as dramamine. Check with your doctor about taking one of these. I love cruises but being seasick is miserable.
