Finally heard from the surgeons office today!! However it was not to set the surgery date but to advise me they want to do another carotid doppler. Seems there is some conflict between the TEE result and the first carotid dopler ( and apparently the echos as well )

When I first saw the surgeon he indicated then he was not sure about the aortic valve but was relying on the TEE which shows a definite bi-valve congenital problem but to what degree is it calcified and not efficient ? So more tests.

How common is this ?.....sure hate the waiting...but the golf season does approach here in the Niagara area so things are not all bad.

In my opinion, I think that investigation prior to surgery is exceedingly important. The more info they can get before, the easier it is to get right to the problem when you're opened up. So hang in there and think good thoughts about the surgeon. Sounds as if he's doing a thorough job.

Jack,

I agree with Nancy. If they need more tests, get them done.

You want them to get the problem solved the first time they go in, not bringing you back for additional surgery because they didn't correct the problem completely.

I know you want to have the operation done, but having it done right is more important than having it done soon.:)
