Hi everyone! Monday is just around the corner! I am a bit nervous, but mainly very unusually calm. I am thankful for the calmness, but hoping that its not going to lead to a huge meltdown at the last minute?! I am ready to get this over with, I dont think that my mind is capable of anymore worry at this point. I just need some last minute encouragement, and maybe a "its not that bad", and a "the pains not that bad" or maybe a "its a piece of cake"... Hope to hear from you all soon! PLEASE!! haha.

Encouragement is my middle name:D?. And I am being very truthful when I tell you that it was not as bad as I expected, not as painful as I expected?I would not call it a piece of cake, but if they told me tomorrow that I had to do it again I would be disappointed and probably a little pissed but I would not have any fear?.I had a pretty easy ride up and over the mountain?.I pray that you will too?..Godspeed.:)

Billiejo's surgery

Billiejo's surgery

Hi Billiejo,
I was where you are at about 4 weeks ago. It will be a relief to get it done and you'll be on your way to recovery soon! I had less pain than I expected and I was surprised how fast they get you up and moving after surgery. That helps alot. You'll do just fine and it will be done soon with the hardest part behind you. I'll pray for you! I hope all goes well - best of luck!!!!

Ditto.....definitely not nearly as bad as I feared it would be. The pain meds work great. They had me count backwards as they started the anesthetic and then what seemed a split second later I was waking up. At first I thought it was still the beginning of the surgery and then I thought "is it over already?". The whole thing was over before I knew it. Best wishes on Monday.

I was where you are four months ago and while it's not a walk in the park as I call it it's not so bad. They control the pain very well and it really doesn't last long. They have you up in no time and then walk, sleep, breathe and you will be over this in no time at all. Most of us have a bump or two but some have none. I went into AFIB but it was quickly controlled.
Good luck we'll be waiting to hear how well you've done

You will do OK. Stay close to these Forums. This is a GREAT place for info and support. Even back when mine was done, the doctors assured me that it really wasn't that big of a deal.....so far, so good.:)

Hi BillieJo ~ Haven't had my surgery yet, so i can't reassure you about it, but i wanted to send you my best wishes and prayers for your surgery and an uncomplicated recovery. ~~HUGS~~ Dawn-Marie

BillieJo.... I was walking about 14 hours post surgery with my nurse and DH. They put my four drain tube containers on a wheelchair and I pushed the chair. :)

One of the first things my nurse said to me was they consider pain control as important as all other vital signs. They do not want anyone in extreme pain as they fully believe it delays healing. Pain meds are offered frequently as appropriate. I really had minimal pain either OHS. (I had my second just 3 months ago.) Everyone experiences pain differently and there have been some here who said they had little to no pain and only used tylenol at most.

You will be fine. I so wanted my surgery to be on a Monday. I think that the best day to have it but I got a Thursday. :) Of course, that was fine but I envy you your Monday.

Do things you really enjoy this weekend. Don't stay home and only think about it.
We'll be thinking about you and hope you'll let us know you're doing fine as soon as you are able.
Godspeed!

best of luck!

best of luck!

You may not be checking this forum at this point, but my thoughts and prayers are with you! I will be two days after you, and will look forward to sharing stories about how well it went! I had this once before, but it was 10 years ago- so im kinda foggy about the whole thing. I am actually looking forward to getting this done- for good!

you should be just fine as you venture on up that mountain. It looks tall, but really isn't that big at all. Prayers travel along with you via us. GODSPEED!

It's a piece of Pie.

It's a piece of Pie.

Well maybe not pie, but you will do OK. It all goes by very fast.

More prayers on the way.

We will be thinking of you. I agree with everyone else. No as bad as what I thought ......not a walk in the park either, but they keep you well medicated. Post when you can. Prayers.:)

Good luck to you Billiejo! I can honestly say...it wasn't as bad as I thought, I was never in any pain, it will be easier than you imagine...and good luck! I've had a pretty uneventful recovery (thank the Good Lord)...and I'm wishing you the same! The hardest part for me was not being able to pick up my kids (as I discussed with you in my PM).

Keep us posted! God Bless!
