:(Hi all. I have been away from the boards for a week. My mom was hospitalized last week. I made the 7hour drive up. She has copd and emphysema. They did a chest xray and saw inflammation in lower lobes, so they did a chest CT and found, by accident, an aortic aneurysm of 4.7 cms, the same size mine was when I first found out about it! She is 74 and was a long time smoker who just quit about a week before coming down with bronchitis and then was hospitalized with full blown COPD. She was discharged Thursday, I came home Saturday. The doctors, rightfully so, advised against surgery at this time, until her COPD is under control. I wish I could wave a magic wand and have her not to have to go thru this. It was a shock for us to hear about her having an aneurysm, especially since I had my repair and valve put in just this past August. What do you think or what is your experience with COPD patients who have aneurysm surgery?

There will come a point, possibly very soon, possibly not, that it has to be addressed. It won't be an easy thing, but it will be doable. I certainly wouldn't want to submit before it was necessary, but on the same hand, mine blew at about 4.7, so I'm edgy as all get out waiting for 5.0.
