Thank you to everyone here for the encouragement! I made it through the robotic mitral valve surgery and I've been home for 3 days! The surgery went as I expected as they tried to repair the valve, however unfortunately the valve was too compromised with both severe prolapse and regurge. After 4 hrs. of surgery and talking with my wife the surgeon decided to put in a mechanical valve. So the surgery ended up taking 6hrs, although I didn't have anywhere to go so I'm just pleased they did a great job. You were all right as the worst part of the whole process was the waiting and mental side. I came out of ICU after 12hrs and then spent 3 days in the hospital before coming home! I have soreness in my ribs and hip although most of that has been controlled with pain meds. I feel to truly blessed for all the support shown to me through this process.

I go tomorrow for my first follow up appointment to check and regulate the meds.

Thanks again,

Scott

Great! So they continued with robotic and just replaced it. Other than the little longer surgery, the recovery was pretty similar to a repair. Overuse the spirometer and don't forget to walk every day.
