I was wondering if anyone had been to Dr. A.D. Pacifico in Birmingham, AL for Valve Surgery. I've heard great things about him, thanks for your info in advance.

Hi Ned.
Pacifico is the man. He isn't very personable, but he also isn't being paid to be you new best friend. He has a great team and the UAB heart unit is very good. You will not be disappointed by it. Keep in mind that he is not the most flexible person in the world. We never had any discussions about tissue valves. He wanted to do a mechanical, period, end of story. He completed his 25,000th surgery in April. I had mine on April 15th. I never met him prior to the day before my surgery. I didn't feel like I needed to because I knew he was the #1 choice in the LA/MS/AL/GA/TN area. Like I said, you will not be disappointed. You also have the NMHS option in Tupelo. I'm in Columbus, MS and still chose UAB. Tupelo has a great facility and great surgeons as well.
