My thoughts if the left ventricle were enlarged, this condition in itself would or could skew the valve opening in a non-concentric configuration causing regurgitation secondary to the enlargement. If his be true, then it may be plausible to consider a favorable outcome by reverse remodeling of the LV with beta blocker medicine as I understand in many cases beta blockers will reduce the size of the heart.
