Hello all... Brandi here, the psalmist's wife. He called me from work today and said that he cannot remember if he took his Coumadin or not last night. He remembers sitting on the couch last night and thinking he needed to go take it, but doesn't remember if he actually took it (he exercised a lot yesterday and was very exhausted, so it's possible he took it out of habit and didn't really think about what he was doing... if that makes any sense) Any advice?

Hi Brandi,
If he really is NOT sure....then just skip it, and make sure the regular Wednesday dose is taken tonight.
I hope his INR is in good range. You may want to test it again in a few days.
This is why the 7 day pill boxes are so great, because even if you forget to take it, there is a way to check and accomodate for the difference.
Don't worry.

Another alternative would be to take HALF a dose ASAP,
that way he won't be too far off and avoids the impact of
a missed dose and the impact of a double dose.

I concur with the recommendation to use a 7 day pill box.

I also chart ALL of my medications on a 31 day data sheet.

I,too, chart the warfarin on a 7 day, 5 week spreadsheet. Each daily dose is recorded with weekly total.
