has anyone here had a minimally invasive surgery to replace the aorta valve?

If not, do you know the pros and cons?

Iv'e found a few Doctors who perform this technique on the aorta and wanted to find out how common it was.

There are a few who have had MITRAL valve surgery using the minimally invasive procedure. My husband is one of them, DuchessBear is another and bvdr is another.

minimally invasive surgery to replace the aorta valve

Hi Mike,
I had minimally invasive surgery to replace my aorta valve. I had it done at Cleveland Clinic in November of 2000. Cleveland does a lot of MIS. Not all people qualify but they can tell you ahead of time. In my case the difference between regular surgery and MIS was that the cut was only 2/3 the length of the normal surgery. To me the plus was that I had very little pain. But since the surgery I have had problems with afib. I don't know if it was caused because of the MIS as it is a common side effect from the surgery and I had been warned ahead of time that it could happen. You might want to go to the Cleveland Clinic Site and check it out. http://www.clevelandclinic.org/. Any further questions let me know.

Room to work

Room to work

Since I may have to have avr again (I have a tissue value) I hope they perfect this procedure but in until they do I would give the surgeon plenty of room to work. I get frustrated reaching in and getting the oil filter out of my wife's car. I don't want a frustrated surgeon.
