Thanks for posting this, Nancy.

Very sorry to know that Martz is having these issues...and I certainly hope things turn out well for him.

But...

*sighs deeply*

I suspect I'm the only one, but does anyone else feel a twinge of envy/sadness that it takes a celebrity to "get the word out" about anything heart-related? As I read that story, I couldn't help but think that despite the seriousness and costliness of the situation, Martz most-likely will not be hurting for money to pay for the necessary procedures. Meanwhile, us "common folk" are no strangers to these issues ... or to the costs involved.

I remember when the now former Chicago Bull Eddy Curry (er, I think I spelled his name correct) had the issue with his heart. He was just recently traded to the NY Knicks because of it. The Chicago media seemed to portray him as "hurting for money" because of his heart condition. Please. If the media think he is hurting for money, then they need to take a look at those of us who live with these issues/symptoms/problems every day ... and have financial problems because of them.

Grrr...

Well hopefully He doesn't have any permanent damage from it? Maybe they'll find a problem he already had and didn't know about? I surely didn't know I had a BAV or a 5.6 aneurysm when they were checking me out for the chest pains.

This morning's paper says he's out indefinitely after it appears that his heart valve has worsened due to the infection. He still is having trouble realizing that his life could be in danger according to the article. The quote was, "Martz is worrying about the team; the team is worrying about his life."
