I've read that many people with MVP also suffer from migraines...I do. Wondering if anyone else has both problems?

? migraine and MVP

? migraine and MVP

Been interested in MVP for a long time. There is no medical evidence to date of any relationship oteher than coincidence.

migraines

migraines

I had them when I was first diagnosed. Blamed them on the woman thing every month. I was in my 30s then and they were horrible. Went away when I was on the beta blocker and now have come back since the surgery. They are getting better and not as often. I have a prescription for a beta blocker for the headaches, but have taken it as yet. I had mitral stenosis and regurg. Replaced with a St. Jude Valve.

I've had them for a while now

I had MVP, and had a mitral repair in 2002. I've had migraines for about the last 9 years, and they haven't stopped since the surgery. In fact, I had one this morning.

There was a thread here regarding this strange "coincidence". Maybe you want to put the word "migraine" into a search, and see if you can find it.

I saw a neurologist once and mentioned to him that there were many of us with valve problems and migraines on this board. He had never heard of such a thing, but said it was "VERY INTERESTING" maybe he'll study it. I honestly think there must be a connection, just don't think anyone has ever really looked into it.
