Wow Gina! Thanks for the very important info. That's incredible.

How are you doing?

Hi Karlynn,

Doing ok as far as I can tell. No bleeding. Had myself a nice helping of cabbage tonight:D Back to the lab in the AM to see if the level has come down. In my experience..... day 4 is a good tell tale sign. Tomorrow will only be 48 hours. Expect to be a bit high still. It appears my Coaguchek is well in line. Plan on testing with it tomorrow as well.

Thanks for your concern! Will update when I receive my INR tomorrow:)

Hi Gina,

I have seen Monistat listed on the package insert of Coumadin as a possible drug that can raise the INR.
I have used this product twice though since being on Coumadin and it did not raise my INR at all. But.....I was expecting it to!
Good luck. An INR that high is scary.

If it didn't get into your blood then there could be no interaction.

I think that sometimes there are breaks in the lining that allow it to be absorbed. That would account for why it happens sometimes and not others.

The break in the lining was uterine tissue. Was in the middle of my cycle to boot. If that were not the case....maybe the Miconazole would not have been absorbed the way it was. My doctor suggested I try the 3-day pack if this happens again. Just guessing....wouldn't that have more of the Miconazole packed in it? Not so sure I want to touch on that subject. If I am mid cycle........no way.

Despite our attempt to straighten my INR out....still on a vicious ride.

My INR keeps spiking...even with holding doses. My cardio asked me to place a call to my GP for additional testing. Maybe a liver panel, etc.? As the liver is where the medication is matabolized. Have not been feeling myself for a few weeks. Abdominal pain/pressure on and off. Just thought it was a yeast infection. Seems there may be more to the madness.

Did not have too many cares until I used that Miconazole!
Wish me luck!

Gina, hang in there. You'll be in my prayers. Roller coasters are no fun, unless they're at Great America.
