Hi All,

I went to Emergency last night as I was experiencing chest pain. The result from a number of tests performed was inconclusive, but the pain was definitely not a heart attack. The doctor has arranged a MIBI stress test and I'm not sure of the reason for this. Will it provide more detail on the moderate aortic stenosis I currently have, or is it designed to provide detail for an unrelated issue?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Thanks in advance.

Phil.

They will inject you with an isotope, that's what mibi is. This reacts with ur heart muscle that is healthy and active vs unhealthy. They take a picture of your heart at rest and exertion. With this they can tell if you have damaged heart muscle from a heart attack or clogged arteries because of lack of blood flow to heart muscle. Basically this test is less invasive than an angiogram. We do this at my work all the time, they use different isotopes for different things.
