Might have stumbled upon something simple that has helped Joe, and maybe it could help others.
For years he has had quite a time with fluid retention. At times it was as if his diuretic wasn't working at all. He also was having quite a time keeping his potassium level up.
He takes a large number of medications several times daily.
He also takes Metamucil, as do many people. He was taking it at midday trying to space it a couple of hours away from medications. I kept thinking that possibly Metamucil was binding with his medications even with the couple of hours spacing, and asked him if he could switch to taking in the evening after all the pills were done with and it would be far away from any other medications.
He has since had the longest period of fluid stability and his potassium level has finally risen to an acceptable level. No more increases in his diuretics and he is generally feeling much better.
Can't prove that this is "cause and effect", but it sure looks like it.
So if you are taking things similar to Metamucil and other intestinal medications, see if switching the time that you take it, keeping it as far away from your medications as possible might help.
