Medtronics offered some spots in their marathon October 7th to heart patients. I am happy to report I was notified yesterday that I am being invited as their guest to run the Twin Cities Marathon October 7th. Also, Mark was invited to run the 10 miler as their guest. So, now it's time for me to crank up the miles to at least try and get ready in a short period of time. The race wiil be about 36 weeks post op. I have no expectations of doing well, more just finish respectable and have a good time!

Congrats! I've run this one twice and really enjoy the course (the race is timed to hit fall colors pretty much at their peak).

That is cool. I wonder if any of these companies sponsor golf events with pros? I would love to be able to play in something like that.

Congratulations to both you and Mark. You will have a lot of work to do but just being consistent and getting some longer slow runs in will make a difference for you.
I also received the notification for this but declined since I will be running my favorite marathon, St. George, on Oct 6 which incidentally will be one year and one day post surgery.
I guess you, Mark and I will just use AKRON relay as a good hard training run.
