I just found out that the heart center I will be going to for my sugery has a huge grant from Medtronic. This makes me think that I will probably receive medtronic valves. The only discussion I have had with the surgeon was over mechanical vs. biologic , not the "brand" of valve. I don't know anything about Medtronic. I don't see it much in the forum.

Does anyone have a medtronic valve? what do you think? Does it matter?

This is another to discuss with your surgeon. He may very well have a choice over what he trusts etc. The "Gold Standard" is St. Jude, but many surgeons opt for other brands. It's pretty much whatever he is comfortable with.

Hi Carla,
I have had a Medtronic-Hall aortic valve for 3 years now and have no problems. It's very quiet except when I get really close to someone! It was my surgeons choice and I trusted him to do what was right for me.
