Hi, all--
Just want to share with you that I got to visit the Medtronic heart valve plant here in California (Santa Ana). It was such an awesome experience! I got to meet not only the annuloplasty department, but also the two women who made my annuloplasty ring! I got to tour the facility and see how both the annuloplasty rings and the bovine/porcine valves are made.
It was wonderful to meet the real, live people who create the parts that go into our hearts and keep us alive! I think they were also happy to meet me--one woman said, "We don't always get to see the people who receive our rings and valves, and it's nice to see someone doing so well."
Just thought I'd share...and if any of you are in So. Cal any time and you have a Medtronic ring/tissue valve, you should tour the plant! I'm still amazed, and this was a month ago that I went!
