Sorry I can't address the weight issue, but here's what I found:

Ramipril:
Other side-effects include a decreased sex drive, tiredness and lethargy

Contact your doctor if you experience these side effects and they are severe or bothersome. Your pharmacist may be able to advise you on managing side effects.

* cough (dry, persistent)
* dizziness or lightheadedness
* drowsiness
* headache
* nausea
* sexual difficulties
* weakness

Greg by weight issues, I assume you are referring to weight gain rather than weight loss.
Metoprolol can cause weight gain; it doesn't just slow the heart it appears to slow the metabolism as well.
I found I gained weight very easily while on it and it also made it harder to loose weight.
On 300mg of Metoprolol a day I am not surprise you are tired.

Thanks OME, it seems I am doomed to weight gain issues as MANY of the drugs have that side effect esp the insulins and the Diabetes is my number one fight ........

Greg, I have another vote for Metoprolol. When I first took it after surgery I had no problem with it but several month later, I began experiencing weight gain and lethargy along with a really slow heart beat....in the 40s. It left me feeling exhausted most of the day in stark contrast to how I felt during the first three months of recovery. When my Cardio agreed that I could stop taking it, my energy level began to rise and I began to walk more. Obviously, this may not be your problem but it is worth considering.

I'm taking Metoprolol and have LOST weight, I really wish I could put some on again but it ain't happening.
Greg, some people just get the "blues" particularly in February/end of winter time. Could this be part of it ?

Meds

Meds

I wouldn't presume to advise you on your meds, but I will say you are taking a lot of very powerful ones and large doses of them at that. I take some of them and have taken them for years and don't take as much.
My one suggestion would be for you to take your list to your cardiologist and go over them and take them to your family doctor and do them same. You need to coordinate.
Good luck,
Barbara
:)

ALL of my health care team review ALL of my meds on each visit as I take the Rx in its original bottle to each appt .... my endocronologist does prescribe my insulin and lances and test strips. As an example my cardio started the digoxin and my GP rewrites as needed I a;so take my meds to each interigation of my ICD by my EP
My pharmacist was of great help in getting me off of the 7 (THATS RIGHT SEVEN) narcotics I was on when released from the rehab hospital ..she is great at spotting conflicts and when the dentist sent a script for a antibiotic she would not fill it and called him to point out a conflict and suggest a replacement

I have given it more thought and I feel that MAYBE it is the diabetic effects that cause
both the mood swings

and weight gains

One med that stands out to me, Greg, is the HUGE amount of METOPROLOL you are taking.

I was on that drug shortly after my last surgery and the doctors finally took me off it because I could not tolerate it. I started at 100mg, then 50mg, then 25mg and still couldn't hack it. My heart rate was soooo low.....I felt like a 'sloth' most of the time.

I am not too familiar with some of the other drugs you take, except for the ramipril, dixogin, furosemide and potassium, as these are meds I take too but not in the same quantity as you.

Have a talk with your doctor and see if maybe he can make some adjustments and/or switch you over to something else. I would not however, stop or change anything until you talk to your doctor!!!

Good luck & hope you start feeling more energetic!

Are you getting your Omega 3 oils... In balance with the omega 6's that are all we get anymore? From ALWAYS... the ratio was1:2, now its 1:10 or so... Like trying to run a diesel truck on kerosine. Flax seed oils, I use pretty unprocessed fish oils, but they DO thin the blood. Omega 3's definitely lift mood and function of a lot of things... Big change when I started to take it!!! Can you find food supplements to replace any of those other things? Your poor body is being asked to communicate in strange languages, if you will, by giving it such non-food stuff to metabolize it's never seen before in it's life.! My Cardiologist has given me food supplements in exchange for some of those crazy heart drugs...but your list is beyond MY ken! Good luck, someone here may have something for you THEY have been recommended by THEIR Dr.!!! Michellemar

Another vote for metaprolol. I was a bit cranky on that from feeling lethargic and confused most of the time, I'd get frustrated with things because on that I just felt like I couldn't deal with anything. I have low BP to begin with and I have to take sotalol for a-fib so I'm just on 1/2 of a 25mg atenolol a day. Even that after first was rough with dizziness but after a few months I got used to it. Find out if you can at least cut down on the metoprolol.
