Hi. My name it Peg. I'm new to this site, but have been looking for several weeks after I found I need a AVR. The cardio said it would be a mechanical valve. I've know about the bicuspid aortic valve for twenty some years, but when they say it's time, the story changes. When he told me, he ask it I had any questions, but didn't have many then. With your help I now have a substantial list. But I don't want to miss something important. What are some things I really need to ask?
Thanks for your help!!

Hi Peg and welcome to vr.com! There are so many here that are valve guru's, I am not one of them. These folks walked and at times carried me through the time before, during and after my AVR (2-21-06) and they still speak to me:D ;) :D .

I wish you all the best. It is not ANYWHERE near as bad as you may think. I am sure all will be well.

Tom

Welcome, Peg. Wayne already gave you a great thread on questions for the surgeon. I know it seems overwhelming at first, but I'm glad you found us and will be a "well-informed" patient. Be sure and let us know when you have a date.
