Am I crazy or what, here I am 65 and may be going back to work. I just recently applied for two positions at the hospital where I volunteer. They both are for unit secretary's. One is in the NICU unit and is part-time. It's for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 4:30 pm to 1:30 am. The problem with this one it would interfere with my lake trips and also with Sunday night church. The other one is in the Ortho and OR units. It's a full-time position and the hours are from 2:40 pm to 11:20 pm. This one would work so much better for me. I heard today that they are checking my references so I'm in the running. You may wonder why in the world is she going back to work? Well, healthwise I've never felt better in my life. I've lost over 50 pounds, got 50 more to go. My leukemina is completely in remission. My blood sugar is normal, my AVR is doing great. So why not? My husband even admitted the other day that I'm a happier person working. Besides with the economy the way it is we could use the money and if I can help I'll feel a whole lot better. Say a little prayer for me that I'll get the job in the Ortho Unit.

You got it Glenda. Age is something I have never really worried about. As I tell my grown children, I am never going to grow up or get old. To me age is a number that other people seem to be overly concerned about. As long as this job is something you want, there is no earthly reason why you can't do it. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I have all my fingers, toes and both eyes crossed for you.;)

Glenda,

You go girl! Good luck ... and hears to getting that Ortho Unit opportunity!

:)

They offered me the job at Freeman Hospital, where I volunteer in ICU. I will be the unit secretary for the Ortho & OR departments. It's a new position. My hours will be from 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm. This is just perfect for me because I'm a night person never going to bed until around 12:00 - 1:00. I was really surprised I got the job. There were far more younger women that applied. At least I have great work ethics. I will acutually show up for work and I'll be on time. The very same day I was offered a positiion at a new dental office in town as Financial Coordinator. I had already accepted the secretary's job at the hospital that very morning.

I had to go for drug testing and a physical Tuesday. My goodness you would have thought I was trying to get in the army. I passed with flying colors but what a work-out. I start this coming Monday. I haven't worked for six years so I'm sure it will be an adjustment for me and especially my husband. He's happy about it though. He has always said I'm a happier person working.

Glenda,

Have fun - I hope it is all that you want it to be and more.
