Hi,

I am in the market for an academic job, looking for a position as a Physics Teacher preferably at the elementary to advanced college level -- can also teach elementary college level Mathematics and Astronomy. I am flexible regarding the location, although urban settings appeal a bit more to me.

I have a Masters in Physics from Columbia University and expect a Ph.D. next year in High Energy Physics: research conducted at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.

I'll get done with Ph.D. research in June 2006 and can start working in the summer/fall.

Please let me know if you see any possibilities.

Thanks,
Burair

No leads here Burair, but want to wish you best of luck in your job search. You'll be an excellent teacher.

Hi Burair,
I'm not sure what your area of interest is but here's what we have open in Physics and Math at Ohio University:

Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Experimental Nanoscience/Condensed Matter, Full Time Permanent Physics and Astronomy

Assistant Professor, Astronomy/Astrophysics, Full Time Permanent Physics and Astronomy

Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Analysis, Full Time Permanent Mathematics

Assistant Professor of Statistics tenure track, Full Time Permanent Mathematics

I don't know much about your fields, but all the Political Science jobs are typically listed in the Chronicle of Higher Education if you can get your hands on that. Best of luck! Kate

Burair, you can certainly apply to Purdue. My son is going there next year (School of Engineering) and I'd be thrilled if he could have you for a class. Also, we have two universities in Evansville, both with engineering programs: University of Evansville and University of Southern Indiana. Just a few thoughts.

My area of interest is High Energy Physics ( or elemetary particle physics ) -- but I am thinking of a move to primarily teaching for a bit. This is because the premier HEP lab is soon going to be in Europe and I think it is more prudent medically for me to stay/work in the US at this point.

High energy physics is the study of the matter in the most fundamental forms, accessible in the laboratory when we collide elementary particles and anti-particles at very high speeds. The result of these collisions is a release of large amounts of energy for every particle participating in the collision -- sometimes the particles and their anti-particles cause mutual annihilation and release an intense burst of energy that creates new forms of matter for brief periods of time which are recorded in detectors built around the collision points.

I am open to most teaching positions I would be qualified for, the main hurdle is many places require significant post-doctoral research experience.

Hey Burair,

Good luck on your search! I'll be sorry to see you move away from the area if that is indeed what happens....

I, too, am looking (yet again) for another job ... and getting more restless as the days go by :(.

Hi Burair,

Check the following link. I do not see a position on the board at the moment. Though, one may exsist. Send them a resume. Wonderful campus.

Thanks, thats an interesting possibility -- the faculty are active in HEP experiments, I will send them a resume.

Wow!!!

I don't know many elementary schools looking for physics teachers, but I'll sure keep my eye out..................:D

Good luck in your search. Hugs. J.
