Just wondering if anyone knows anything about ordering Coumadin from Canada Drugs??? I know it isn't the same as what I get in the States, but is it OK???

Welcome Karen,

I would try to find out the manufacturer. If it is Taro or Barr you will be okay. I am not familar with any other generic manufacturers.

However, in looking at some of the prices on the Canada sites, I found it cheaper to buy from Walmart at $4 for a 30 day supply .

The manufacturer is Sigma, an Austrailian company. Do you get Coumadin the brand from WalMart or Warfarin?

I work for the State of Massachusetts, and a few years back, offered through my place of employment, I was able to get my Coumadin for free from a Canadian mail-order company called CanaRx. The Coumadin was in it's original unopened package and I never had any problems. Unfortunately, Coumadin was taken off the list of free meds due to expenses, so now I have to pay for it.

I've never heard of Canada Drugs, is that through your employer or insurance company? Or just some place you found on the web? I'd trust it if it was through your insurance or employer, but run the other way if it was just some random company.

CanadaDrugs.com is a fairly well known company and my doc has no problems with me ordering from them, I am just wondering if anyone ever heard of the company Sigma which is the place that makes the coumadin CanadaDrugs supplies.

I have not heard of Sigma.

What's the incentive in ordering Warfarin from Canada when just about every pharmacy in the USA sells Generic Warfarin (usually made by BARR /USA or TARO / Israel which are BOTH very reputable manufacturers) for $4 or $5 for 30 day supplies and $10 for 90 day supplies. These prices apply to ALL doses, at least around here.

My wife and I have gotten drugs thru CanadaDrugs with no problems. I used to get Coumadin from them until I was able to get off the brand and onto Warfarin. As others have said, virtually all major drug outlets, Walmart, Kroger etc sell Warfarin(any strength) for $4/mo or $10/qtr. At those prices, it really doesn't pay to go to Canada.

FWIW, I have used both Barr and Taro with results equal to Coumadin.
