Hi I have just found this site it is brilliant!!
I had aortic valve replacement at age 21, (22 years ago). I still am, or was, physically active until I tore my shoulder tendon recently. To try to manage the pain to avoid surgery I am willing to try anything, but am interested in (or my wife is) a magnetic underlay for the bed, and magnetic strapping for my shoulder. As I have a st judes carbon valve I am not sure of any of the implications if any of this type of magnetic treatment. I am in Australia, and presume this treatment is available world wide. What do you know? Help please!!!!

You can always couble check things out with the valve manufacturer. They probably have an 800 number on the card they gave you with the model number. Also check with the surgeon about your sternum wires.

If you had a pacemaker, then anything magnetic would be a no-no.

Welcome, this is a great site for info, my carbonic valve medical alert card states it's okay to have a MRI, which is a magnetic test, but like Nancy said, I would do a double check.

22 years with the same valve is very encouraging, you don't want to mess with a good thing!

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that there are many scams out there regarding magnetic bedding. AARP has had several articles about this scam. They also pointed out that the guarantees about getting your money back are very hard if not impossible to obtain.

You may want to do a web search about these before you purchase.

Thankyou very much for all of your advice. I am waiting to hear back from my specialist before doing anything.
Thanks again

Hey Rob

Hey Rob

I remember seeing something on TV about scams and magnetic bedding too.

Be careful with this. You wouldn't want to lose your hard earned money.
