MadsDad

For those of you who don't know or remember, my daughter Madison had AVR March 5th, 2004. I have not posted in a while, and wanted to update ya'll to her progress.

She is doing terrific! We had an echo done last week and everything is working as it should. Her Cardio doesn't want to see her back for six months. We have become accustomed to the coumadin and we finally got her leveled off around 2.5 INR a couple of months ago. She swallows the pills like a champ and will not go to bed until she has taken it, she will remind us if we forget (which we haven't so far) Her activity level is through the roof and she is doing everything a normal 5 year old does. She started kindergarten this past Monday, and as sad as I was to see her walk into her classroom, I was also extremely grateful that this day had come. Watching her grow up is something I never take for granted, and try to enjoy every possible minute that I can. She is truly my hero. Sorry for taking so long to post an update, I know some of you were getting really attached to hearing her updates. I will try to post to some pictures soon. God Bless everyone.

Madsdad, thanks for the upbeat post. I'm so in awe of parents and children who go through this, especially the management of the coumadin. Maybe Madison could teach my 16 year old how to swallow pills. The big baby still won't swallow them   Thanks again and give her a big hug from her pals on the forum.

Boy oh Boy-

Was I glad to see your post! There were many times that I wanted to email you and ask how things were, but I was afraid that your silence wasn't a good thing. So much for assuming.

This is terrific to hear. Thanks for letting us know.

What wonderful news about your precious angel. I'm so thankful to hear that she is doing so well. I'm sure she is gong to enjoy Kindergarten. She's such a trooper.

Thanks for the update Mad's dad! I wasn't worried...I just figured she was keeping you and mom worn out. ;) Glad to hear all is well with your precious daughter!

Mad's Dad --

You (and little Mad) are an inspiration! I have three children -- 6, 3 and 1 whom are my little miracles. Madison is my heroe, too.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks so much for posting. We've all been wondering how she's doing. So glad to hear the wonderful report. You are a right, God is good all the time.

GREAT NEWS!!!!

Here's hoping for a "normal" life from now on!!!

I believe I mentioned this before. I was born with TGV and my parents never tried to hold me back from doing anything. I'm sure they were chewing off their nails a few times but they never kept me from doing the things I wanted to do and I really think that's part of why I'm as healthy as I am now, inspite of the "setback" I had with my tricuspid valve.

Let her run and play and do all the things she wants to do, she'll do great. =)

What a terrific update! :) I'm so glad to hear that Madison is doing so very well!

So you're the one.............

So you're the one.............

that everyone has been telling me about!!! So glad to meet you and so glad to hear that Madison is doing so well. This is a relief!!!

My three year old daughter Katie was born with a complex combination of heart defects. She has undergone three surgeries thus far: BT shunt at 2 weeks of age; Bilateral Bidirectional Glenn at 12 months of age; and a failed common AV valve repair at 3 years (originally the third surgery was supposed to be the fontan before the valve went south on us). We are most likely looking at a valve replacement when we attempt Katie's fontan, which we are trying to postpone as long as possible to allow her body time to recuperate from the last OHS in April. I have tons of questions for you, but hate to muddy the list. If you don't mind, I will probably PM you or e-mail you directly.

Thanks much for checking in and, again, I am very glad to hear that Madison is doing so well. Take care and God bless............

Thanks so much for the update. I have thought of you and your daughter often and have hope all was going well!

Heather

So rapt for you, thanks for posting an update. One of the blessings of heart surgery (and I'm sure other life threatening conditions), is that you sure don't take life for granted. So glad to hear that all is well,
Yolanda and Chris
