So I am getting cleared for a non heart related surgery went to see my Cardiologist saw the PA instead. Reading back to my Echo from July when I got sick and had a 3 day hospital stay for bad viral infection they as precautionary measure do an Echo my cardiologist told me everything was fine no limitations etc. Always told me I had no heart enlargement. After surfing the web I find out about lvh maybe the aortic stenoisi I had since birth caused it?? Would you schedule an appt with cardiologist to go over this?

Matt,

If your echo is starting to show mild LVH, it could be a sign that your heart is compensating for the stenosis. Its probably nothing to worry about at this stage. You should go see a cardiologist so he/she can assess your current condition and determine if you require follow-up visits to monitor your situation. If you ever do need surgery, you'll want to have a history of tracking your heart function so you know when to intervene before suffering permanent damage to your heart.

I had surgery last October had a St jude valve put in Aortic/ & Aneyrsum repaired. I am thinking this caused it. I see my Cardiologist great Dr 2x a year he reviewed the Echo was happy with it and did not bring it up to me. I found it after reviewing Echo I have a surgery coming up non heart related. My thought are the stenois caused it or it maybe Atheltic I use to power lift weights.

Sorry I should probably have bottom of my profile filled out so you knew my case. Just wonder if I should make an appoitment to just discuss this. He knows I have had a little anxietey from all this already maybe he thought it was so mild not to bring it up? Haha hoping in all seriousness I switched Cardiologists a few years ago he saved my life I trust him fully just this LVH I am seeing in this Echo is bothering me.

If it's casuing anxiety, go see the cardiologist. You'll be relieved to hear it's nothing to worry about. As I understand it, LVH can be caused by weight lifting, high blood pressure, aortic stenosis, aortic valve insufficiency, excessive alcohol consumption, and a bunch of other things I don't know much about. Your doctor can help you sort things out.

In my case, 41 years of severe aortic valve insufficiency (leaky bicuspid valve) led to significant LVH and eventually required AVR surgery.

If you're on diuretics, that would drop your potassium. I hope they will re-check after you've taken the horse pills for a week or two. Too much potassium isn't good either.
