Does it show up on your INR monitor? I think I read that it didn't but was just checking to make sure. I am glad I started my Lovenox shots,I have been taking doses of 10mg of coumadin for 4 days now and still have an INR of 1.1 Hopefully the coumadin will kick in soon. My wife is getting pretty good at giving me my shots twice a day, don't even feel the needle going in anymore.

I know that even though the CoaguChek says not to use it with heparin or similar derivatives, it does work. I learned this by testing people who did not tell me that they were on Lovenox until after I did the test. I cannot say whether or not Lovenox interferes with the other meters. As geebee said, it does not show up in the INR but it could interfere with the accuracy of other meters unless the instructions say something else specifically about heparin.

That's very interesting. I guess since the blood is anticoagulated with the heparin/Lovenox, it confuses the control part of the machine?

I don't know that it doesn't work with heparin. I just said that if it doesn't specifically say that it does work with heparin, you cannot assume that it does. I just happen to know that heparin doesn not bother CoaguChek but the company is not allowed by the FDA to say that heparin doesn't affect it because they never tested it with heparin.
