I saved a poem to use in thank you cards for my brother's memory. I just can't find it anywhere - I have a copy somewhere, but where?

It goes like this:

You may have sent a card
You may have sent a flower
You may have brought a dish

I can't find it anywhere on the net so I am turning to all of you. I received it the first time many years ago when a dear friend passed on and have seen it several times since then. It's really nice and since I will be making cards to send and want to use this poem as part of the card.

Thanks, All.

I searched the Internet, came up with possibly one more line. Someone else out there was looking for the same poem in 2002.

The line she remembered was

"You may have sat quietly"

There were no replies for her request

Seems I have this somewhere. I took a quick look but couldn't find it. I think someone sent it when my mother passed away. I'll email my sisters and see if they might have it somewhere.

Ann, I think I found it:

Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
Or sat quietly in a chair;
Perhaps you sent beautiful flowers,
If so, we saw them there.
Perhaps you sent or spoke kind words
As any friend could say;
Perhaps you were not there at all
Just thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console the heart
We thank you so much, whatever the part.

If you're still looking for more words to the poem, it sounds just like what your local funeral home has in a book of sample cards. I suppose you're supposed to buy the card from them, but maybe they would help you out.

oh, thank you so much, Phyllis. That's the one. I saved my copy so well that I hid it from myself. Thank you, thank you. Now I will never lose it as long as VR is here.

Jim, I did contact our local funeral home - the girl there said she'd never heard of it! I'll bet it's there somewhere, but she was quite short and hung up quickly. We can always count on Vr, can't we?

My sis came up with exactly the same one that Phyllis has. She said it was on the thank you card from the funeral home that took care of our family arrangements. Glad you got it earlier than my message.:)

Thank you Kodi for taking time to help. I saw this poem about 17 yrs ago and vowed then that if I ever was in a position to be sending out thank you notes on this subject, that's the one I would use. It's just so simple and says so much. I will be making my own (I love to make cards) to send out.

I knew I could count on our family here.

How gently and delicately beautiful! Thanks for sharing it!
