I know that there are some out there in warfarin land like me, stable:rolleyes: ?..Week after week or month after month within range with little variation?.I do not intend to start a stampede with this question but I would like to know what is longest duration of time between testing that you have done or heard about?.....I know, I know, curiosity killed the cat but not to worry?..it ain?t gonna kill Cooker.;)

Shhhhhhhh......................3-4 months, I think. I was really busy and just kept forgetting or not making it to the lab on time. When I went back, I was still stable, no adjustment.

Al's always been pretty much in range. There was a time when he suggested that going to the lab was a waste of time because he had not had a dose change for a very long time. Then, heaven only knows why, up jumped the devil. He INR was tested and in range 27 days before he had his stroke. He was slated for another test on the 28th day. Stroke caused by a low INR.

Al Lodwick spoke about a person who had not had a prothrombin test for years and years with no bad consequences. Since the fickle finger of fate pointed to Al, he tests weekly.

Ross - aren't you in charge of punishment????:D

When I lab tested I was BAD. I've never been told to wait any longer than a month - but there were times I was bad and would go 6 or 7 weeks. It was just so darned inconvenient to have to go to the hospital lab, sit for up to an hour to get a test.

Once I went for 6 weeks, lab problems, but I was not happy about it.
As I gaze down lovingly at my band aided finger..... I tested today and am thrilled to bits with sticking myself every second Thursday.:)

Way back in the 1980s, during the pre-INR days, I was very stable and my doc let me go 3 months between pro-time tests. Since the introduction of INR testing I have gone as long as 6 weeks. I have been very stable +/- 3.0 for the past 6 months and am comfortale with testing every 4 weeks. For me, I am not comfortable going more than 4 weeks.:) :)
