Okay, I'm really not smiling. This has been the most nerve-racking few days ever for me. At times I feel strong and pleased with my potential valve fix, at others I'm staring into an abyss of shear terror... and the shame is, both thoughts are fleeting.

I am as ready (maybe too ready) as it is possible to be. I tried to lay low today, listen to some music, read, cook a great (and early) meal. Now it's just get thru the night. We report at 5:30 am for 7:30 surgery.

If you are the praying sort, I covet your prayers. We have no promise in this life that everything will work out, but we do have a promise that God is always with us in whatever trials we face. All I ask for is peace and the grace to make it thru.

If you're not the praying sort, I still appreciate your thoughts!

My wife will post updates. I asked her to supply plenty of detail.

You guys are the best! This has been a wonderful experience in human sharing. This a group that really does 'feel my pain'.

God bless you and keep you, each and everyone.

Hey Kenny,
This is the worst part, the waiting. I know it is hard but just try to keep your mind on something else. Soon you will be on the road to recovery.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care

Dave

HI Kenny,

Our prayers are with you! You have had a lot to process (and do!) over the past couple of days. The time between now and the surgery allows some of those weighty realizations to sink in . . .yikes! This is big surgery and you have every right to feel scared, apprehensive, and overwhelmed. Go with the flow of your feelings. . .good, bad AND the ugly. :p

You have a great mental outlook and trust in the universe - these will serve you well over the next few days. We wish you an uneventful surgery and an equally uneventful recovery!

All the best,
Melissa

Hi Kenny

Remember, tomorrow morning you won't be alone---every one of us here at vr.com will be in that room with you supporting you with our spirit....You are in many prayers and will continue to be so till you come home. I think the waiting is the worst part about the entire surgery....for all concerned. I distinctly remember when we were in your place, and I'm sure everyone else on this list remembers it, too.

I used to say the vr motto was walk, walk, walk, nap, nap, nap and breathe, breathe, breathe.....now I've decided to use:
DUCK WHEN YOU SEE THE TRUCK!!!

You'll do fine, Ken.....and please have your wife post!!! We'll be here waiting.

Evelyn

Hi Kenny-

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers for tomorrow. Most people say a feeling of calm comes over them at the last minute, and I wish that for you.

Please remember that if Joe can do it with all his serious problems, so can you.

We'll all be waiting to hear the good news. So- Bon Voyage, smooth sailing. Happy Birthday to your shiny new heart tomorrow.

We'll talk to you later.

God Bless.

Hi Kenny

Hi Kenny

You will be fine:) :) Don't you have to shower tonight with that special soap and in the morning, too? Get your wife to scrub your back...that will relax you.:D :D And remember..when you check in early..they will give you a good-feel shot..and you will soon be in never-never la la Land:D :D :D I pray..so I will add you to my list tonight...Bonnie

Kenny,
I'm adding you on my prayer list today. My husband had
avr Nov. 5, so we are down the road a bit. I know it will
go very well for you too. Check out Philippians 4:6,7. It has
sustained me these past days.

Hi Kenny,

Don't be disappointed if you don't get granbonny's feel good shot right away. I looked forward to it but it never came....I meant to talk to you about that Bonnie;) .

Seriously Kenny, my prayers tonight are for you and your family. Thank-you for arranging for your wife to post for you. She seems like a wonderful person and I have already enjoyed her posts.

I go with you

I go with you

Kenny,
I think I know what you are feeling to a degree. I am still a few weeks away from mine and my " butterflies come and go" Hope it helps that we are all going to be there with you, praying, watching and waiting. Hope you soon get that feeling of "calm" and focus that soon you will be other side of this mountain. I want to make a deal with you. Get going on a smooth recovery because since I am going with you, I need you to go with me Dec 5th. God Bless You,
Steve

Wishing you and your family good luck & great strength tomorrow.

Prayers and thoughts with you.

John

In case you haven't noticed, Bon's never come down off of that shot yet. Don't feel too bad, I didn't get one either. I layed there looking for my guardian angel in the OR and imagined all of you being there with me. It was an experience.

You'll be fine Kenny. There are too many of us watching over you, so you have no choice but to return to us!

Thanks to each and everyone of you for your kind thoughts and encouragement!

Yes Granbonny I do need to scrub with the magic soap tonite... but first we're going to have a good soak in the jacuzzi. We think some bubbles, candles and Sinatra or Krall will smooth us both out. I know, I know, no wine.

Danilynn you are right. Memorial Hospital is Catholic run so there are Bibles everywhere. While waiting for Pre-op testing I read that very verse. I sat the family down tonight and shared it with them so we could all be on the same page. With God's grace and peace I (and they) can get thru anything.

And He sent you guys as some of the bearers of that grace and peace.

It's a deal, Steve. By Dec. 5 I'll be doing push-ups.

See you guys on the other side of the mountain!

So, let's count backwards from 100..99..98:eek:

Best of luck to you, Kenny.
Keep well. Stay positive. It's the one thing you can do that will make a huge difference. We're all pulling for you.
Kev

You don't get to count backwards anymore. They looked at me and said see you when it's done and bang, lights out! I'm not kidding, it was that fast.
