Hi there, it's Scott, Jason's brother. Although we will post something in greater detail on the post-surgery boards, I wanted you all to know that Jason is out of surgery and off the ventilator.

The surgery lasted approximately seven hours and thankfully, there were no bleeding issues. The aneurysm was larger than expected and the entire ascending aorta had to be replaced as well as the aortic valve. Jason and his wife considered this the "worst case scenario," but realistically, it was probably better to have the entire ascending aorta replaced, if there was weakening of that area.

Jason did very well through the surgery, according to his surgeon. When I left the hospital this afternoon, he had already had the ventilator tube removed and he was responsive to questions. His first comment when the ventilator tube was removed was "Anesthesia kicks your [butt]." :)

We will keep you updated!

Thanks for taking the time to post and best wishes to Jason for a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Again, thanks for taking the time to post. Good to hear things went well, it is probably better to have the whole plumbing re-done (surgeon wouldn't have done it otherwise, I'm sure!) than have to go back in later to fix something else.

My best wishes for a smooth and boring recovery - sounds like he's doing OK if he can joke about it already!

Thanks for the update and please extend my well wishes to Jason when you have an opportunity.
