Hi All,

I got the results of my latest echo on Thursday. A year ago the echo showed aortic stenosis with diastolic dysfunction and mild wall thickening, and mild left atrium enlargement.

Since then, I have lost 101 pounds and I walk daily, 4 miles. The results this time were very surprising, they now say my aortic valve appears normal, no wall thickening, upper limits of normal for left atrium, but trace tricuspid and mitral regurgitation.

I still have a heart murmur, I don't know what is causing that then, the report didn't say. This all has me kind of confused, how can they diagnose you with aortic stenosis and now it's gone?

Don't get me wrong, I hope I never did have it, but it just seems weird. Anyone have any guesses? Also, is there anything to worry about with the trace regurg on the tricuspid and mitral valves?

Thanks for reading,

Lisa

Ah the dilemma of the echo. They change continuously. It's totally possible that the first one was wrong or that your exercise routine has improved everything. Trace regurg is really nothing to worry about, but that may be the murmur that can be heard.

Regurg.

Regurg.

Trace Regurg. can over a long period of time cause other problems.

Wow, what a turnaround! Congratulations!

I've heard that aortic stenosis can be transient, but talk to your cardio. Did you have a stress echo?

Trace mitral/tricuspid regurg is considered normal in the general population. Follow-up with your cardio though.

Best,
