Can anyone tell me if I have to stop Coumadin to have this procedure done?
Thank you

Hi Randy

I had it done, but I'm not on coumadin, and there is NO bleeding. Sooooo, I would think that you do not have to stop it.

I've been thinking about having the surgery done and it is my understanding that you do not but that isn't official but rather the referring doctor's comment. Are you going to do it? My oldest son had it done a few years ago and just recently he had to go back to wearing glasses but this time it was just for reading....he just turned 40 last fall.

Yes, I am going to have it done next week. I will be getting whats called Mono vision, 1 eye corrected for far away and 1 eye corrected for reading.

Randy:

Al had cataract surgery on both eyes several years ago. When the first eye doctor said that he would have to be off his anticoagulants, we got another doctor. He was fully anticoagulated for both eye surgeries and had no difficulties at all.

I had LASIK surgery done a couple of years ago (monovision, like you're having). I'm not on Coumadin, but I made a point of asking about it. If you're an appropriate candidate for LASIK, my eye center had no problem with anticoagulation.

There is no bleeding anyway. The presurgical visits are long and full of tests, but the actual procedure is almost absurdly quick. The machines even compensate if you move, or stop if you move too much (and here I thought they'd have my head stapped to a board).

I've worn glasses since I was ten, and had astigmatism. My new glasses were to be trifocals with progressive lenses within the three panes. They needed instructions. That convinced me

After the OHS, I was much less concerned about "mere" eye surgery, and I went to the best (one of the pioneers). My vision worls perfectly now, and no more glasses. I still delight in it.

Best wishes,
