Looks like I'm next, a moment I was dreading, counting the hours and minutes like Steve did!
At least I have a busy weekend, a long drive up to Denton, Texas, this afternoon , and proudly see my daughter (Michelle) graduate from the University of North Texas tomorrow. We will all come back Sunday, hopefully I will be able to check back Sunday evening to see how everyone is doing.
I will be going to the THI in Houston on Monday, for pre-op, and staying in Houston that night. So after Sunday my next post will be in post-surgery. Michelle will post updates after surgery until I am able.
My mind is haunted by what it must be like for the family in the waiting room. Please pray for my wife, Donna, daughter & son, William, during this difficult time.
Thanks to everyone for your help and support, if not before I will see you on the other side of the mountain with the truck details.
John

John,

Get those boots laced tightly and go for it!!! You will be coming down that mountain before you know it and amazed at the vista before you!!!

Godspeed!

Christina L.

John,

Forget the truck, I'll send the limo. It's a new trend.

You'll do great - waiting is the worst part. It all happens so quickly you just get carried along.

I'll remember you next week. God bless and take care.

John forget lacing up boots, when it's all over with, you won't be able to bend over to tie them, so lets just put on some slippers and keep it simple shall we? :D

You will remain in thought and prayer as you begin your journey. Please make sure the woman posts when she can.

Many prayers for a smooth, successful surgery John. I'm sure that mountain has met it's match!

Karlynn

Best of luck, John

Best of luck, John

Sounds like you have great plans to occupy your time this weekend.

And I'm sure you're scared to death; but understand that an awful lot of scaredy cats (myself among them) made it through that last period of waiting and proudly managed to get to the operating room (even while wishing we could hide under the examining table like when we were kids) on our own.

You'll most likely be visited by a period of great calm and acceptance; it was unlike anything I've ever felt before.

Eat drink and be merry this weekend. May the mountain be a molehill and the truck miss you entirely.

We'll all be with you in spirit in that operating room. All my prayers and good thoughts will go with you. Best of luck. You'll do fine.

Hey John, may everything go perfectly!! We will be waiting to see you posting after all this is done. The best thing is you get to sleep though the whole procedure. One second you will be wondering when they will come get you and the next second you will be thinking "Wow that was quick!".

We will be praying for you and your family. If there is anything I can do to help as I am only 30 minutes from the Medical Center and also going to rehab three days a week in the Herman Professional building please don't hesitate to ask. Best of Luck!

Rick

Hi John,
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Congratulations on your daughter's graduation, I know you are proud!

We will be thinking of you and keeping you and your family in our prayers.

Godspeed.

Hi John

Have a wonderful weekend. Rest assured, we will be praying for both you and your family come Monday.

Evelyn

You're right, John. The one time I was glad I was the one in the operating room was when I thought of my family sitting in the waiting room on pins and needles for those five hours. We'll pray for them as well as you. Just take your time down the mountain to enjoy the sights.

Paul

John,

We will be anxiously awaiting word about your surgery. May your surgery go well and your recovery even better. Many members will be holding you up in prayer!

John
Adding my prayers to the rest. May God be with you and your
family.

I will also be praying for you and your family, please remember to stay away from any of those who are sick even slightly so you will not have to post pone anything.Hopefully I will be behind you and together we will start the new year as a overcomer of one of the hardest mountians to ever climb, and join the group and give great advice as we have been given. My thoughts will be with you and your family and I will pray for strength for your all of you and know with a Godly assurance you will have a truly blessed Christmas

The truck...

The truck...

John,
Jim claims he was hit by a bus, not a truck. If it gets you don't worry, you can just ask the driver to hang on a second, and climb aboard with everybody else on VR.com already there waiting for you to join them for the ride down the mountain:)
As for your family, yes it is the hardest thing in the world to wait while your loved one has this surgery. But the second they are in ICU with you afterwards, way before you know what's going on, their major worrying is over. That is a feeling I'll be treasuring forever I think.
You will be in my thoughts, and should have the best Christmas ever as everybody will be falling over themselves to make you feel good :D

Hi John-

I want to wish you the very best surgical result possible. There is no doubt that the time waiting is very tense and nerve-wracking for your loved ones. But once the surgery is finished and the surgeon speaks with your family, things are much easier.

Please tell your wife that I've been through many surgeries with Joe and there are some things she could bring with her to make it easier.

Bring some change for snacks, vending machines

Immodium was very helpful

Headache remedies

Mints or other hard candies, your mouth gets very dry when you're nervous

A small pillow or a neck pillow

A sweater. I always get cold when I'm nervous

Something to occupy your time, book, needlework, crossword puzzles.

Bon Voyage and smooth sailing, John. Talk to you later.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Congratulations to your new graduate too. Will be here waiting with the others to hear about your surgery.
