Any word from LA_Cruiser? Has anyone tried to contact him?

I keep checking out his site to see if there is any word there, but so far there isn't. I did send him a card. My guess is that he went in thru ER, but I'm pretty sure they would have to do the full workup on him before scheduling surgery, don't you think?

Maybe someone who is on the West coast or LA area, could call Harbor UCLA and ask about his condition. His name is Marco Antonio Flores.

LA_Cruiser

Just finished talking to LA_Cruiser. I was away on a trip and unable to connect by PC, so did not make the call until my return to New Mexico, just a couple of hours ago.
Phoned the number of Harbor UCLA listed on LA_Cruiser's "other thread", asked for Marco Antonio Flores and was informed that Flores, Marco would be "4 West Room 18". (I'm not certain I got that correct; I couldn't get the operator to repeat it for me; could have been Floor West, or something like that.) In case anyone wishes to call, the number of Harbor UCLA is 310-222-2345.
Marco answered the phone. I asked him if this was LA_Cruiser, and he chuckled. Said he was now expecting to have surgery this Thursday, that it was scheduled earlier and was postponed because they were short of staff. He sounded clear and well. He said to tell everyone "God Bless" and that he would try to get to a computer by this Saturday to "speak" to you. He gave me permission to call again, and I will follow-up, and if he isn't able to report in, I'll keep VR.com posted. I think a bunch of mail from y'all would make him happy. I wonder if he has anyone that is there for him.
Sincerely,
Don

That's super, Don. I'm so glad you did that! Thanks.

Well, Cruiser, Thursday is your special day. You probably won't see this until you get out of the hospital, but I want to wish you the very best surgical result possible, and I know you'll definitely be feeling better after the initial healing.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Bon Voyage and smooth sailing. Talk to you later.

Thanks so much Don for that follow-up and news about Mario.

Mario, you are in our thoughts and prayers. You're doing the right thing. We know what you're going through and look forward to hearing from you on the other side of the mountain.

Take advantage of the advice and well-wishing from your heart buddies here to help you have a quick and full recovery.

God bless to you too buddy!

Thanks Don!
That was very nice of you to check on Mario. I'm so glad to hear that he went into the hospital.

Mario,
I just want to send you my thoughts and prayers. Hope all goes well with your surgery on Thursday. You have definately done the right thing by going in to have your surgery. You probably won't see this until after your surgery, but I just want to send you my best wishes. Let us all know how you are doing after your surgery. You will feel much much better. Take it easy and Take Care!

Gail

Hey Mario - didn't expect to hear you are alive! Nobody has ever created two pages of responses their first time in VR as you have. And usually if there are two pages, it's because we went off on other tangents of discussion. So congratulations to you - you have proven to the body of this board how much 'heart' we have - guess you will be back to report. My prayers are with you tomorrow. GODSPEED

Good Morning and Good Luck Mario---by the way, I definitely like Mario better than LA Cruiser---sounds like you're a car. I wish you the best for your upcoming surgery on Thursday. I'm sure when you read this you won't be feeling as though it was the best thing for you, but trust me, IT IS!! My husband had AVR this past June and is up, around and back to work. YOU will be in that position, too. I hope someone is there with you for at least a week post op. I do feel that's very important. You will be in my prayers, and thanks Don for posting.

Marco

I'm glad you got into the hospital, albeit late, I hope you have a normal recovery.

By Jove - he IS real. I called that number and he is definitely a patient - but nobody home. Just had to satisfy my curiosity - nosiness, I guess. I caught it from Bonnie - :D

its good to see the muddy waters clearing up. He is different. but wasn't it Nancy who said "aren't we all different?" Yes we are..

I'm sure he needed the response and the concern he got here.--thinking--- nancy's wisdom and joy's wake-up call.
I would still like to know about the reasoning and stats behind his bovine valve lasting 45 yrs. If he continues with his medical good fortunes, he will indeed be blessed beyond anything that I would expect.
good luck to him, and am looking forward with optimism.

Well, Marco-

At least no one can say you're boring, LOL:p :p

I would imagine that the second half of your life will be just as interesting. I say you should get a ghost writer and publish your memoirs. Maybe even a movie.

But don't do it until after you recover from the surgical "pumpheadedness" which is so common.:D

Good luck tomorrow.

LA Cruiser Surgery Postponed

LA Cruiser Surgery Postponed

Just finished talking to Marco Flores, approximately 8:15 pm California time.
He advises that his surgery has again been postponed, this time until Monday. Said he's
"going crazy" in the hospital and asked to go home, but that they won't let him because they have to keep monitoring him. (I understand the going crazy waiting part; I was admitted the morning of my surgery and don't know if I could have handled several days in the hospital prior to surgery.)
Marco said they postponed him because they have more seriously ill patients who needed more immediate attention. Perhaps that can be taken as a good sign relative to the seriousness of his condition.
He has not been able to read your posts as he does not have access to a computer.
I hope that VR.com will continute to give him its support. Its unfortunate that he hasn't received your latest messages.
Don

WHAT????? More seriously ill patients, what a crock, this guy could be dying, and they are putting him off????? Sorry for the wait Marco, I went NUTS when I was in the hospital the first time, and I couldn't go home until I could walk again, so I was stuck there for 17 days! I hope you have plenty of reading material! Although I didn't feel like reading much, I think there was a marathon of "all in the family" on for like 3 of the days. It drove me NUTS! Hope they get you in for surgery soon, and take care!

Oops I posted a reply to this thread under "new thread". I hope you get it. Peg

Thanks, Don, for following up on Marco. I wasn't sure if he was "real" either. I guess what we were witness to was panic?

Marco,
I hope all goes well with your surgery. I'll keep you in my prayers. Thanks for finding this site, it was probably what you really needed.
Best Wishes!

Hi Marco

Hi Marco

Just dropped by to wish you well with your surgery ...you will be finding life in hospital better than it was when you were a child ...but it's hard to trust is it not ?
I hated handing control over to kids half my age who looked exhausted ...and they all had letters after their names ..but thank God the surgeon looked old enough or I'd have walked ....
tis tough going back ....but have courage young man ....some wise old coot told me I'd looked my biggest fear in the face and spat at it ....did that make me feel better ...not one bit ..but it did stop me walking out ....so best wishes for a speedy recovery and be polite, grin and bare it and get out there healthy and go live your life ....you're still a young laddie
Take care
