Has anyone found a Med1care Prescr1ption Po1icy that has good pricing for occasional L0venox usage?

There seems to be a Wide Variation in T1er placement for L0venox between different Med1care Prescr1ption Po1icies.

Medicare and drugs..

Medicare and drugs..

Al, you've probably already read this:

This is the Humana/Walmart script plan: http://health.walmart.com/RxPlanEnroll/

Have a read of page 70 which puts Lovenox at a Tier 4 - quantity limit - with a 35%-50% coinsurance.

We've only got until Friday...:eek2: I don't think that I'm going to buy one..

Al, I did a little research on the www.medicare.gov website and the results are all state specific. You might want to have a look there if you haven't already. There are 28 drug plans available in Texas - it would be lots of research to find which Tier lovenox falls under, so goodluck with your search. Ever looked for a needle in a haystack...:biggrin2:

Thanks for the Humana Link. I should probably check that one out. I've looked at a couple of the other better known companies. There are a BUNCH of companies I've never heard of that I didn't bother to check. With the Walmart / competing Pharmacy Generic Plans ($4/30, $10/90) I can understand the temptation to forgo an Rx plan at these new rates if you don't regularly use expensive covered drugs!

OTOH, local pricing for L0venox is $107 per syringe. OUCH !

Now if I could just find a GI Doc who doesn't require going OFF anticoagulation for a colonoscopy...

Isn't the new generic Lovenox much less costly?
Some folks here have successfully used it recently.

It all sounds so complicated.

I had to bridge with lovenox for my hip surgery. My doctor wrote a rx for twenty needles. To be used before I went in hosp and for after I came home. My insurance paid about 1200.00 I paid 25.00. I only used 5 of the needles and what a waste I didn't even need them. I went in the hosp early because I was dehydrated. I wish I could give them back to the drug store. I too was worried before I knew my insurance covered. I don't understand why this pricing is so irregular. Hope the price settles down, since next year I'll have medicare.
