“Canadian” Drugs Actually From Other Countries In Most Cases, Says FDA
An FDA investigation has uncovered intentional mislabeling of prescription drugs that consumers would assume were being shipped from Canada. The FDA reported that 85% of the 1,700 packages examined over the span of a few days in August that were labeled as originating in Canada came from other countries. In fact, the drugs were found to have originated in 27 countries other than Canada. In addition, after some of the drugs were tested, 32 were found to be counterfeit.
The operation involved the inspection of packages arriving at New York, Los Angeles and Miami airports. Upon releasing the results of the operation, FDA officials repeated their warning to consumers about the uncertainties of ordering prescription drugs online from other countries.
