I must be the clumsiest person around. Last week I was bringing the dog in and had to go by the fireplace. Hit my leg on the log holder and landed up getting 10 stitches in my leg. I just spurted like a fountain.Had to tie a towel around my leg to get to the hospital. Of course, there was a hematoma under the cut which the Dr. said was from the coumadin. It did stop bleeding pretty quick though which surprised me. Looks like a large smiley face. Going to get the stitches out tomorrow. Feels like a hairy spot on my leg. Never ends, it seems.

It has been running lower than I would like, around 1.9. I am due for a test this week so hopefully it will be back in range. Going to have a beautiful scar when this is all done.

Post a picture!:D

I haven't had 10 stitches at once, but I have had Klutz Stitches before. So join the club!

Now that's a bad way to get red in your holiday decorations. ;) :D

Hope all is well and you stay out of trouble.

Hmm, I know someone else here that did a silly one and ended up with stitches. Wouldn't have mattered, Coumadin or not, anyone would have requireed stitches.

Maybe you better get shin protectors and one of those helmets Dr Allan talked about.

Glad you are ok.

I second the recommendation for shin protectors! :)

FWIW, my dog (puppy then and 50 lbs of "unbridled enthusiasm") saw a squirrel when we were walking through a wooded area, darted to the right, and slammed my shin into a tree.

I went to the ER with a Hematoma the size of a deck of cards. It took several WEEKS for that to subside. As it drained (into my FOOT), it created 'new channels', turned my ankle, then toes, all sorts of interesting shades of purple. The PAIN when first standing was excrutiating! This would last for a minute or two until the leg 'normalized'. I even had to use crutches for brief periods. It was NOT FUN !

Hope your hematoma is less traumatic.

Let us know how it goes.

(I still have the dog...but let her chase sqirrels OFF Leash now :)

(Do a SEARCH for "hematoma" under my name and "ANY DATE" to find that thread)

Going to get the stitches out today and thank heavens for this. Drove me nuts last night trying not hit them with the bed covers. It looks pretty red so I am hoping there is not an infection for something dark lurking in there. Hematoma has gone down but still there. I know it takes a while for the blood to be reabsorbed. I need a whole body suit not just shin guards. I swear I am attracted to ****y traps. My husband never hurts himself and we live in the same.house..Maybe is because he doesn't do anything in the house to get injured. So much for retirement. That is another whole story. I am not ready to retire at 60 and are going to wait until at least 62 if the body holds out. Thanks for your replies.
