I have been trying to keep track of Ross situation with his son. Ross, you are not alone. My 37 year old son just got out of rehab for alcohol and other and is now living with us for the next 8 weeks. He is an over the road truck driver and did not pass his drug test. I saw it coming years ago but didn't realize it was this bad since he was out of the house and on his own for years. We travelled 300 miles each way Friday to get him in Wisconsin. He was in a treatment center up there since that is where his employer is located. What a change for us since we have not had anyone home for a really long time. We talked to him in regards to following our rules along with his recovery rules. As a sober person, he acts like his old self and hopefully it stays that way he will stay. I am really surprised by my husband attitude. Really helpful. Just wanted to vent a little.

I'm glad you came here to vent!
It seems no matter how old our kids are, and how long they have been gone from home, there is no limit to the amount of worry we expend as their parents.
I hope your son maintains his sobriety. I truly believe he is fighting a disease process.
My mother was an alcoholic, and I know first-hand how it can devastate a person's life and their family's.
Al-Anon can be a great help if you need to talk with others about how they cope.

congratulations to your son for getting this far. I pray he will learn that his life is and can stay turned around to where it ought to be. As parents, you are also due for some praise. It's hard to be in your place. Keep the faith. Blessins..........

Sorry to hear about your son but it sounds like he's is getting back on the right path. I sincerely hope he finds the strength to stay the course, and you find the strength to help him get there. Best wishes to all of you for a successful outcome.
