This is Kim's husband, Preston. Before surgery, Kim was most insistent that I post a message on her behalf to let you all know how she?s getting on. She has come to rely on this forum, and she?s a big fan of many of you.
Firstly, I want to thank everyone who wished her well before her surgery. It is indeed touching to read your comments.
Kim had surgery yesterday at the Mayo. She was in Dr. Dearani?s care. She had her tricuspid valve replaced with a tissue valve. She also had an ASD fixed and a MAZE procedure on the right side of her heart.
The surgery went very well, and she was taken to the ICU in the early afternoon. I got to see her late in the day, and she looked much better than I anticipated. Kim was removed from the ventilator after midnight, and she?s doing just great.
The docs are very happy with her recovery. Her vitals look excellent, and she?s resting comfortably (or as comfortably as one could expect).
I expect that she?ll leave the ICU sometime tomorrow. Finger?s crossed, she?ll continue a successful and speedy recovery.
