Kerri,
Thinking positive thoughts and sending prayers your way for a successful surgery and bump free recovery. Hopefully someone will post for you to let us know how you are doing!
Best wishes...

It's that time. You've learned all you possibly can and now it's time to apply what you've learned.

We love you. We will be there with you whether you see us or not.

Just get fixed and get back to us as soon as you can. :)

Hi all! I'm kicking over here... The surgery itself went well and I went home that Sunday. However once home I just couldn't get the pain managed and had no energy. By Monday I was in the surgeon's office and admitted that evening back to the hospital with a blood clot around my heart. They opened me back up Tuesday around five an cleaned that All out.

I woke up Wednesday morning on the vent (which sucks). But my belly was still really hurting and nobody knew what was wrong. After some CT scans they thought I had clots and bleeding in the bladder. I was put on a larger catheter and they started a flush of the bladder. Still no fun!

Thursday morning they decided that they needed to go into the bladder and try to remove what was there so off to surgery I went agAin! When they got in there there weren't really clots in the bladder but hematoma embedded in the wall of the bladder. They had also determined that I had some bleeding around the spine. My right thigh is actually a little numb still but getting better.

So needless to say it's been a ride and one I wAsn't expecting! I'm doing good today.. Ate some solids. They are adding heparin back in tomorrow - didn't want to start bleeding Again. I lost maybe 6 or 7 pints of blood. I do have the on-x valve And so far it's ticking nicely.

Oh and during all the chaos my heart rate and rythm got out of control. My pacer had to work in both chambers for a while but it's gone back to normal with some meds. I will need a pacemaker raced before I leave.

I'm in ICU and have been since Tuesday. Might make it to a normal room in a couple days, we'll see how things progress. I'm just happy to be sitting here and in no pain now other than the chest stuff.

I know this was a honker of an email. If anyone has questions just. chime in. I've been pecking this all out on my iPod touch so who knows how it wil read. :) it's great to see the board back up again - I missed you all, especially during all of this!

Talk to you all soon!
Kerri

Kerri,
I'm glad to read that you're ok, but hate to hear what an ordeal you've been through. Take care, and let us know when you're moved to a regular room

Hi Kerri,

I have been wondering how you have been since your surgery. I was glad to see you update the forum, but certainly wasn't expecting to read this unexpected turn of events. It certainly sounds like you have had quite a go of it. I am so sorry to read about your struggles and am sending you best wishes and positive thoughts!

Kerri, Wow! I'm sorry you have been through so much. Hopefully, it will be smooth sailing for you going forward, you deserve it.

Kim

Whoa girl...what a ride! Glad you are doing better now though. I guess it shows that you have to go with your gut feeling when you are not feeling right. Smart move to go back to the surgeon after discharge. I certainly hope that your recovery is now on a smooth course and you can get back to your life soon!!
