I do not understand. Surely this man has had THE VERY BEST of medical care, including total heart workups. Yes, of course he's been under tremendous stress for several years -- but how can this be?

The best health care in the world doesn't render a rich person immortal. Well-heeled corporate execs die of massive heart attacks all the time, it's just that most of them don't have the notoriety that Ken Lay had.

Agreed...

Agreed...

It's God's timetable. Not the Surgeons or anyone elses...

The coach at NW, age 52, had heart history and the school has one the best
cardio-teams in the country- he died of a heart attack last week.

In many ways, Folks, our surgery has saved our life because we see a cardiologist on a regular basis. I can't count how many of my so-called "healthy" friends have died of heart attacks!:(

Hey RCB-You are right on in this one....if it wasn't for my mom's valve job they might not have picked up her need for the triple bypass too. It is a great thing to have regular cardio care;)

one thing they told me after bypass surgery was to avoid stress and anger at all costs. Can't you just imagine what this man was suffering with all the stress. He was due to be sentenced in Oct. I heard a blurb from Larry King old show this morning where Ken Lay was his interviewee. He said his father was a Baptist minister and he (Ken) grew up in the church and had always tried to live the right way. I am sure the stress was nearly unendurable, guilty or not. Can you just imagine.

When my brother was gravely ill and near death (Feb) I ended up in the hospital, too - from stress. My bp was something over 139; irregular heart beat. Just in the last week or so am getting me back. Stress - stress and more stress will kill you - or nearly.
