so of course here I am begging for prayers again.

Katie has had a hacking cough for over a week now.........not too bad, worse at night. Started out last weekend (of course!), ran a fever for two days which we kept at bay with tylenol. Clear drainage from the nose. Fever went away, but the cough arrived.........and won't go away. I think it's just sinus and allergy-related since we finally have gotten quite a bit of rain after our six month drout, but Don is concerned because her energy levels are down (almost in the normal range :D ) and she is getting winded very easily. We've even been noticing the blue tint again around her mouth, which we haven't seen that shade since pre-surgery..........well, except for the bruises covering her legs. I REFUSE to believe this is heart-related. IT's not, it's not, IT'S NOT (that's why I posted here under small talk instead of heart)!!!! Don is afraid it might be, but I am NOT going there. He has never had stopped up sinuses with that honker of his, but I stay stopped up from allergies half the year..........and I know how hard it is to breathe with a stopped up nose...................sooooooooo

please say a prayer for Miss K that this is just a spring cold or allergies and NOTHING ELSE!!! Will this panic mode never go away????............sigh!

Other than that, Katie is doing great, except she is back full-swing in her stripping mode. When I got home from work tonight, I thought she was actually dressed for once............until she stood up. She was naked from the waist down................thus, the butt naked phrase. Still strips and bobs naked for grape tomatoes. She is infatuated with the movie Chicken Little. You ought to see this naked little five year old imp dancing around singing, "If you want to be my lover, first you gotta be my friend.........." and "Tell me what you want, what you really, really want.........." It's a hoot! Her latest greatest thrill is trying to run down mom or dad or Trip with her jeep. Last weekend we were planting tomatoes and flowers. Katie discovered her old pot with her rock garden she had planted from last year. Since half of the rocks have actually emerged through the dirt due to wind and weather, Katie is convinced they are growing............maybe I can talk her into planting marbles, since I have lost most of mine.............

Thanks for the prayers. I hope and pray that reinforcements are not needed.

Much love. J.

Prayers and Best Wishes coming your way!!

Prayers and Best Wishes coming your way!!

Hi Janet,
Sorry to hear that Katie isnt too well at the moment.
Hopefully its all just allergy related as you say,
sending you all lots of love and hugs
Wendy

Janet, also going with the NOT heart related theme you have going! Chloe gets that blue tinge when she has any kind of cough or cold or problem with airways such as hayfever or allergies and she doesnt even have a cyanotic condition.
Hope the pead visit goes really well and theres nothing for concern - in fact I'm sure there won't be! Hows that for positivity?!

Also pmsl at eh chicken little dance - must be a sight!! :D

Love to you and the gorgeous Katie

Janet,

Sending prayers and hugs. I know all will be well.

I still think you should gather all your posts on this and the hospital site and contact a book publisher. Change the names to protect this innocent and I think you will have a best seller (without Katie hating you for publishing her name).;) :D Your writing is wonderful.

Hi Janet,
Hope Katie's appt. with the ped goes okay today. Sounds to me exactly like what my granddaughters have been going through this past month. First Abbie had an ear infection and then a hacking cough that just wouldn't go away and very lethargic. Bea developed a fever, lethargy and now a hacking cough last week. Hate to say it, but "it's going around"!- comes with attending school.
We also have gone through the "stripping mode" and naked is still their favorite form of dress. Have a cute picture taken this winter of Bea with her new hat, scarf and gloves and not a thing on from the waist down. Would post it here, but I would be arrested for child pornography! No one ever said girls are easier to raise then boys.:D Let us know how she's doing and I hope you "both" feel better soon.:)

Hey Janet! I'll be thinking and praying for you and Katie as you go to see the pediatrician today. I just know everything is fine. I, too, suffer from allergies, and the coughing seems to hang on forever. I think that in turn makes us feel crappy and there goes our energy levels. I'll be checking from time to time today waiting to read that good report from Katie's doctor! LINDA

Ummmmmmmmm, I'm not going there either.
It's a residual cough after the week-end illness.:( :(
And Janet, you'd better get right back on here and let us know for sure!

My daughter is in college in Colorado and she is just getting over a horrendous, never heard her so sick, kind of cough. She didn't call home for a month because she didn't want me to worry about how sick she was! So, depending on which way the wind is blowing down there....maybe Katie has the same bug. Glad you are going to the pediatrician. Get on that cough now!! It's a stubborn one!

Good luck! Marguerite

Yep, prayers sent your way!! Hope it is just one of those nasty colds our kids seem to catch every time...

Hey Janet, Matt was a nudist too... the stories I can tell, but won't! lolol

Okay Janet it is after 5:30. I just read your post about Katie and I want an update! Seriously are you not home yet? Did the computer break? Are you cellebrating a clean bill of heart health? Please let us know. I am fairly sure she is fine but so know that anxious wondering that happens so easlily with our heart kids.

just a cold

just a cold

Hi Janet and Thank You for sharing such a heart warming story. What a precious daughter you have. Please know your family is in my prayers and I hope Miss Katie is feeling better. :)
hugs to you
Hayley

Kate's a strong wee girl!

Kate's a strong wee girl!

I've just seen this thread and crossed my fingers right away! Please, let us know how things went at her pediatrician as soon as you find out.

Sorry for the late update............

Sorry for the late update............

but Don's Mr. Mom this year, and I had to go to a writing workshop on the other side of Dallas and just got home a little while ago............ugh! I hate Dallas traffic. Anyway, I called, of course, this morning to find out the verdict, but had no way to update y'all.

Bottom line: Ped is not overly concerned. There's a virus going around that they have seen a lot of lately that mimics Katie's symptoms. She thinks the decreased energy levels and smurf look is just due to Katie's fighting the virus and her stopped up nose. If Katie starts running a fever again, or the hack gets worse or doesn't go away by the middle of next week, we are to go back in.

So thank you all so much for the prayers. I'm convinced that y'all's had to do the trick as mine are so rarely answered! :D It's funny. I reallly wasn't worried until Don was worried.........usually it's the other way around.......guess his Mr. Mom role has given his maternal instinct a jumpstart. :D

Surprisingly, I got home tonight and Katie was NOT naked! Nope, she was in her tinkerbell bathing suit in the bathtub! Now, let's see..........she runs around the house butt naked, but puts her bathing suit on to take a bath???
Go figure..............

Emma, thanks, too, for relaying Chloe's smurf look. I guess I was just surprised to see that again. Because Katie's satting so high now, I thought the blue look was history............sadly, not so.

And, Gina, just trying to figure out who the innocent people might be?..... :D

Love you all. Thank you again so much for always putting up with me. Hugs. J.

Janet, I was so glad to get the update on Katie! I was checking off and on between unpacking boxes. I don't know why, but it seems like there have been so many viruses flying around this year. Our 21 month old grandson had the stomach virus twice (once in Jan. and again in March). And he had a respiratory virus on top of the stomach virus in March. Anyway, I'm glad that Katie got a good report from the pediatrician! P.S. Our grandson likes to run around naked also...just can't turn on any water when he's that way though because that automatically gets his bladder going!:D I even have to wait to take his diaper off if I'm running the bath water and don't have him in the tub yet. LINDA

Glad to hear it Janet! I figured something was keeping you away and I am glad it was just your busy scheduel!

There has been so much sickness this winter around here as well. I do hope things improve for all of us virus wise.

Hi! I have been checking this thread all day also and I am glad to see the good news! Whew!
You know, what is it with these naked kids??? My Andrew (who is just 1 week older than your Katie!) looooooves to be naked too! We were at an awards dinner last evening and wouldn't you know it, one second he is eating a peice of chicken, the next second he had his shirt nearly completely off!!! I gave him a swift kick under the table to get his attention, then that famous evil eye mommy glare....!!!!!!!
My mom laughs ... she says anytime she comes over to our house my kids are either in their underwear or naked!
I just don't have an answer...

Thanks for taking the time to update with the good news, Janet. I hope she's feeling better soon, but don't panic if it lingers. Abbie's cough hung on for a couple of weeks.

*chuckles*

Holy cow ... what I want to know is where all of the ladies that are MY age that want to be naked? ;)

Seriously, though, thoughts/prayers coming your way, Janet. Sure hope Katie feels even better soon :).

And, btw, when is that book of yours coming out?

Hi Janet...I am late on the scene here...
then again I always have our little Miss K in my prayers...

The naked story...mmm...what a scream!...and yep! boys do it as well as girls...I myself was a streaker in my youth and our young Steve used to love swimming naked in our driveway in the puddles...
weird children :D  ...

I hope Katie soon loses her smurf-resemblence and snotty-nose.

love and hugs to you all
